Camilla d’Errico announced a new fundraising initiative she has embarked on this year: For every convention event she attends in 2013, Camilla releases an open edition mini print and 50% of sales proceeds collected from that print – sold at events and online – are donated to a different non-profit organization she feels aligned with.

“I want to do more to show my appreciation for the fans that support me, and give back to organizations that really need it to make a difference.” Camilla comments.

During March, Camilla’s charity print release raised slightly over 200$ for the Seattle Children’s Hospital. In April, $410 were raised for the Ocean River Institute. Your support in sharing Camilla’s efforts are making a difference for non-profit organizations.

Camilla has been donating individual prints, sketches, hand painted objects and toys, and even paintings to various charities and NPOs over the years and this initiative is Camilla’s way of giving on a bigger scale and making the most of her loyal fans and incredibly tight knit community for the benefit of multiple organizations and charities.

This month’s charity print release is Hear Danielle Roar with 50% sales proceeds collected in May going to Walking For Lions. WFL is a non-profit organization with a specific focus on lion conservation in Africa and raising awareness globally about an animal that is not usually the subject of better known conservation efforts. But 75% of the wild lion population has been lost over the last few decades and they need our help. For more information on WFL please visit their site.

Artist Camilla d’Errico is continuing to celebrate her recent art book publication Helmetgirls (published by Darkhorse Comics) at the Vancouver Fan Expo and the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo in Canada.

“Camilla d’Errico is a powerful voice in pop surrealism, her work combining diverse influences in imagery is both singular and hauntingly familiar. Compelling and deeply personal, Helmetgirls documents Camilla’s art and lifestyle brand that fuses manga, steampunk, and fine art into an original and meaningful aggregate. Gargantuan biomechanical headgear adorns beautiful, wide-eyed, and seemingly fragile girls. More than just decoration, the helmets express each girl’s character, needs, and desires. Look deeply into the Helmetgirls’ eyes—they have a story to tell.”

Don’t miss it, if you can!

Strychnin Gallery in Berlin has invited the Australian Street Culture Magazine Chicks on Powertrips and the Keep A Breast Foundation to put together an art show that burst with estrogen.

Chicks On Powertripshttp://www.chicksonpowertrips.com/ is a magazine, which is exclusively devoted to female artists and has followers all over the world by now. For the upcoming exhibition, titled The C.O.P. Guide to Etiquette, around 30 international artists interpreted and visualized ancient etiquette rules for women from the Victorian era. The list of participating artists include: Mimi S., Camilla d’Errico, Monique Ligons, Helena Kubicka de Bragança, Bethany Marchman, Lady Shove, DEB, Toyamoon, Ellen Stagg, Miss Led, Toofly and many more.

Keep A Breast Foundation is a non-profit organization, whose agenda is raising awareness of breast cancer as well as educating people about its risks and ultimately its prevention. Therefore, many female musicians, actresses, artists and other women of high popularity get plaster casts of their torsos done and have them designed by well-known artists in order to help out Keep A Breast Foundation and the good cause. We are proud to present the first Keep A Breast show in Berlin curated by KAB ambassador Yasha Young.

The show includes casts of Holly Miranda, Kat Von D, Katy Perry, Natalia Avelon, Katherine Moennig, Bonnie McKee, Mimi Le Meaux, Kristen Ferrell, Yasha Young and designs by David Hochbaum, Shepard Fairey, Ron English, Wee Flowers, Lindsey Carr, Lori Field, Bethany Marchman, Christian Rothenhagen & Kristen Ferrell, Sophie Bastien, Ligons, Helena Kubicka de Bragança, Bethany Marchman, and again…many more

Known for her use of bright colors and innovative painting techniques, Camilla d’Errico has been venturing into new markets through carefully chosen partnerships with other artists, designers, and creative companies.

Her latest project is a collaboration with Seattle-based Rubbish Rehab in the creation of one-of-a-kind, antique chairs re-upholstered with fabric bearing d’Errico’s artwork. The first chair is designed with the “Loveless Bird” image. Every chair is a vintage or antique and the frame and upholstery are completely refurbished.

“This collaboration has been my absolute favorite so far. I adore home decor and victorian, vintage objects and mixing that with my art is a match made in heaven. It takes my art into new, uncharted territory.” says d’Errico. “Home decor is an area where my art can really be brought out in ways I didn’t even think were possible.”

The chair collection will be expanded to include other designs and other chair styles and customers can pre-order a chair and have the opportunity to choose the frame. The images are matched to chair styles and carefully designed to bring out the best in the art’s detail. Only 10 of any one chair-design will ever be made – these are more than just furniture, they are pieces of art.

Vancouver based Camilla d’Errico, creator of Tanpopo, Helmetgirls and Burn received her first career nomination from The Joe Shuster Awards for her work on Sky Pirates of Neo Terra #4-5, and Red Riding Hood in the Fractured Fables Anthology (Image Comics).

The Joe Shuster Awards are Canada’s first national award recognizing outstanding achievement in the creation of comic books. They are named after pioneering Toronto-born artist Joe Shuster who, along with writer Jerry Siegel, created the iconic super-powered hero, Superman.

“I am honored and humbled to be nominated in this category, and in the company of some of the entire comic book industry’s best artists”, says an elated d’Errico, “This nomination means so much to me because I’ve worked hard to establish myself in this field and to follow my dream despite opposition and doubts at times. I am proud to be a Canadian comic book artist.”

A prestigious award, and equally prestigious nomination, The Joe Shuster Awards give recognition to — and raise awareness of — the efforts made by Canadians who make, publish and sell comic books, webcomics and graphic novels. In the category of Outstanding Comic Book Artist, Camilla d’Errico is in the running with other artists: Stuart Immonen, Jacques Lamontage, Francis Manapul, Julie Rocheleau, Fiona Staples and Cameron Stewart.

The awards ceremony will take place at a public ceremony in Calgary, Alberta on the evening of Saturday, June 18th, 2011 at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo which takes place June 17-19, 2011 at the BMO Round-Up Centre.

Congratulations Camilla!

It’s been 5 years since Camilla d’Errico first publicly displayed her paintings in Vancouver, BC. She has come a long way since then, and is one of the most notable and popular Pop Surrealism artists today. An accomplished painter, illustrator, comic book artist and character creator, Camilla’s work spans a huge variety of media, including toys and apparel.

For the first time since her career began, Camilla’s work is available in a full-sized art book collection published by Dark Horse and available from January 26th. You can pre-order yours now. Retailers and ‘e-tailers’ will start selling on February 2nd.

This art book is a career achievement for Camilla, as she says: “The anticipation of having my own full sized art book has been building for several years, so to finally have Femina & Fauna released is an overwhelming experience. I couldn’t have imagined the book being any better. Dark Horse has helped me fulfill a lifelong ambition and blown me away!”

To ring in the release of the book, Dark Horse is giving away an original sketch drawn by Camilla for the giveaway. To win the sketch, leave a comment on the Dark Horse blog.

Christmas is over and the carefully chosen presents found their ways to their new owners. As every year my family swore not to do presents, but failed to turn up empty handed, which feels more uncomfortable than it should. But if this is the time of year where love can be expressed in worldly goods, there is nothing that says ‘I love you’ more than that one thing that you really want to have, but can’t (or wont) afford. One of those lovely goods are Camilla d’Errico’s Helmetgirl t-shirts in collaboration with Hot Topic.

NNE member Camilla d’Errico, one of the leading ladies in the pop art movement and comic industry. She has teamed up with the original pop, cult clothing store, Hot Topic again to launch another 5 colorful Helmetgirls designs on classic fitted t-shirts. “The response to the first 3 Helmetgirls designs last spring was fantastic! Everyone really loved the t-shirts; so launching another 5 new designs is very exciting! The five new designs are even more fun, colorful and edgy than the first three. They represent the Helmetgirls aesthetic perfectly!” says an enthusiastic Camilla. “Helmetgirls are inspired by everything that shaped me: comics, anime and manga, cartoons and pop culture.”

Best known as “Camilla”, this outgoing artist, illustrator and character creator has a natural artistic versatility that has allowed her to make waves in the fine art world, to create a name for herself in the comic and graphic novel industry, and to selectively disseminate her beautiful artwork commercially through merchandise, clothing and accessories.

“Helmetgirls are my original characters so it has been fun to bring to them to life with bold colors like we did with this line”, continues Camilla, “Good fit, beautiful full color images, and high quality garment ensure that the final product best represents me and my art. We really focused on quality when designing and making these. I’m thrilled with the results.”

The five new Helmetgirls designs are now available at Hot Topic online stores and I wish my family would have already discovered online-shopping for Christmas….Next year!

Camilla d’Errico seems to be a very busy bee. After Art Basel Miami NNE member and pop surrealism artist Camilla will be heading to Vancouver for her annual Winter Release Party at Ayden Gallery, hosting an array of merchandise based on her colorful and whimsical artwork, as well as presenting her newest oil painting, Zebramilk.

Amongst the new merchandise being presented are limited edition interior décor pillows, one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry, exclusive t-shirts and 2011 art calendars. The party will also be an opportunity for Vancouverites to get one of the rare giant plushes, Buddha Kuro, along with a copy of the new graphic novel, Tanpopo 3. Guests will also have the chance to see the prototype of the 6” vinyl Kuro toy slated for commercial release in March 2011.

“The release party gives me the perfect occasion to interact with people in my hometown of Vancouver, since I travel so much throughout the year,” says Camilla. “I love sharing the new merchandise and right before the holidays it gives the party an even more festive feel. It’s become a tradition in the city!”

With this year’s party being held in a gallery, it was fitting for the artist to create a new painting. Zebramilk (30”x15”) is the stunning blue and aqua painting of a girl and a zebra shark. Along with the original there will be 50 fine art print replicas of the painting, signed and numbered by Camilla.

After a successful 2D show, featuring icons and characters from new currents in contemporary art like Jeremy Fish or Camilla d’Errico, MondoPop goes 3D with wood. Painted, modified, customized and recycled, wood tells us the stories and thoughts of the inviting leading artists of the Lowbrow, Pop Surrealist and Urban Art movement.

Wood has long been used as an artistic medium. It has been used to make sculptures and carvings for millennia, like the totem poles carved by North American indigenous people from conifer trunks and the Millennium clock tower, now housed in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. It is also used in woodcut printmaking, and for engraving. Wood, primordial material, offers the possibility to expand an artistic conversation -typically on paper- in order to renew the covenant with our origins.

Beginning December MondoPop invites you to Rome find the quiet Xmas atmosphere assuming creepy colors, becoming tinged in Tim Burton’s style, that entertain us thanks to the wonderful contribution of many international artists of the movement: Jeremy Fish, Paul Chatem, Shag, Catalina Estrada, Bigfoot, Camilla D’ Errico.

Seeing all the SCOPE Art fair press releases rolling in you might forget that there is a whole lot to do in sun-tanned Miami beginning December…including the honorable invitation of Harlan Levey Projects and Abner Preis to present The Superhero Project (booth F10). Take for example the SEVEN art fair for individuals, who want something different, or the Primary Flight for the young and urban oriented crowd (featuring heroes like The London Police, Will Barras and Logan Hicks), or the more mainstream and definitely more famous Art Basel Miami.

No New Enemies member Camilla d’Errico was invited to the later to join the Custom Guitar Show by Gibson & Gibson Foundation. From December 3rd – December 5th, 2010, Gibson and Kramer Guitar, in partnership with their friends at Outta My Mind Creations and MaiHiro, plan to unveil an exhibition set within the heart of Miami’s Design District.

The centerpiece of the event features Kramer Assault 211FR guitars as the canvas upon which 11 celebrated artists embellished with their own artistic modifications. They have been encouraged to transform their instrument in any way they wish, the result of which will be a collection that is visually fresh. The line-up of artists includes art superstars such as Michael Lau, Nakanari, Pete Fowler, Christian Jacobs (Yo Gabba Gabba), 123Klan, Matt Waldman (Nooka), Camilla d’Errico, Ashley Wood, Long Vo, Lebo, and Oscar-winning actor/artist Jeff Bridges.

As Gibson & Gibson explain: “While engaging and enlightening, “Art Assault” intends to serve a more virtuous purpose. Once the event is completed, the Assault guitar artwork and custom toys will be auctioned off via an online auction with proceeds benefiting the Gibson Foundation. The Gibson Foundation strives to reinforce our society’s future by focusing on projects that help children with education, music and arts, and overall well-being.”
