The London Police are returning to their old home town for their first solo art show in England since 2009.

“This time around, the Amsterdam based lads have themed their show around sports and games… And although they have totally mistimed their sterling effort of jumping on the Olympic bandwagon, the Essex born duo have produced a slick show of considered artworks and designer sport products.

“For inspiration, TLP have leaned on the memories of their athletic exploits growing up: The times when a pool cue was for the pursuit of sporting excellence not for finding someone who owed you money and whacking them around the face. The days when a cricket bat was for hitting sixes into Mrs. Norrington’s back garden before you smacked a ball through your mum’s greenhouse, blamed it on your brother, and had to wait for Dad to come home to give you both a couple of wallops with a rolled up Daily Mail… Aaaaah, sport. Memories.

“Alongside canvas originals, TLP has produced an exclusive range of limited edition, designer pool cues and hand drawn cricket bats. The games theme continues with a unique painted vintage Monopoly board and photography from TLP’s city-wide Monopoly Street Art installations in London. Attendees at the private view will also have a chance to try their hand at a lucky dip and win prizes by competing on a handmade, wooden, ball-bearing maze game. Four of these very limited edition games will also be for sale. After a serious injury involving a finger and a wood saw, production of these maze games (and the aforesaid mentioned finger) were ‘cut short’ so to speak…as they say, It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt…”

Camilla d’Errico announced a new fundraising initiative she has embarked on this year: For every convention event she attends in 2013, Camilla releases an open edition mini print and 50% of sales proceeds collected from that print – sold at events and online – are donated to a different non-profit organization she feels aligned with.

“I want to do more to show my appreciation for the fans that support me, and give back to organizations that really need it to make a difference.” Camilla comments.

During March, Camilla’s charity print release raised slightly over 200$ for the Seattle Children’s Hospital. In April, $410 were raised for the Ocean River Institute. Your support in sharing Camilla’s efforts are making a difference for non-profit organizations.

Camilla has been donating individual prints, sketches, hand painted objects and toys, and even paintings to various charities and NPOs over the years and this initiative is Camilla’s way of giving on a bigger scale and making the most of her loyal fans and incredibly tight knit community for the benefit of multiple organizations and charities.

This month’s charity print release is Hear Danielle Roar with 50% sales proceeds collected in May going to Walking For Lions. WFL is a non-profit organization with a specific focus on lion conservation in Africa and raising awareness globally about an animal that is not usually the subject of better known conservation efforts. But 75% of the wild lion population has been lost over the last few decades and they need our help. For more information on WFL please visit their site.

With a hint of sarcasm, Billy presents her own light-hearted still life installation capturing a positive moment in time. It is a visual exploration on growth and trends depicting how life is anything but still.

Join Billy for her third solo show in the year 2013 as she recognizes that there is always too much to do and real life never ever stays still.

Our illustrious friend Ludo will be building an installation & exhibiting in Le Centre Pompidou, Paris next week.

The exhibition is a group show called Ex Situ. Ludo’s outside installation will cover the ‘air socks’ on the piazza and will be visible May 2nd, with his workshop inside running May 2nd to 6th. During the workshop people will use Ludo’s visuals to create fake advertising based on his infamous co-branding concept.

“The context – that of the interaction between a work and its environment – is at a premium. Artists implement their creative work as a whole, in dialogue with the city. The work is set up or completed in a very direct manner, often very quickly. Viewing by the public – in this case passers-by or residents – is guaranteed. Creative acts in public space are a race against time. Some of the best items of urban art are those that benefit from the rush of adrenaline due to the fear of being surprised or interrupted. Today, the leading lights of street art are gradually entering the history of contemporary art as a whole. The work is being accepted in an increasingly broad variety of venues: public squares, festivals, galleries, institutions and elsewhere. As time passes, people are tending to think of street art less as an act of vandalism and more as a recognised form of artistic creation.”

Boonika present the infamous Miron Milić at Booteeq in Zagreb:

Miron Milić is a master of detail: A patient and skilled craftsman who builds his strange compositions. Whether it be animal depictions or representations of people, erotic fantasies or a combination of all these elements, he works extremely meticulous and with determined strokes.

With his specific and distinctive visual style, he has already been distinguished in his generation. The power of his depictions is fascinating at a formal and a conceptual level, because the complexity of his work reflects the complexity of the content and its layers.

Miron actually defragments reality, collects various elements and brings them together into a new meaning. With this principle he is guided in the themes of portraits, wherein he often merges features of several people. Drawings are reflections of inner and outer worlds, and their mutual profusion. In Miron’s works from the animalistic cycle the artist’s fascination with animals is reflected, their physical appearance, strangeness, connotation with wildness and freedom.

Artist David Shillinglaw is proud to present his new exhibition My Idea of Fun. Moving between street and studio, he presents paintings on canvas, found objects transformed and spirited wall murals at StolenSpace Gallery in London.

“As a child I made art continually, unencumbered by expectation, judgment or the fear of failing. My Idea of Fun is an attempt to return to the liberation of creating for my own pleasure, focusing on the act rather than deliberating over the product created.

“The results are revelatory. Infused by the vivid motifs I see in everyday life, the playful, often mischievous tone of the work has elements of the livery of a Victorian fairground, loaded with positive contemporary mantras and brightly colored reminders of all things analogue. The work, in all its forms, transforms ordinary or familiar objects into a bricolage of eye candy, inviting you to get lost in a strange but compelling world of color and shape.

Click here to view the embedded video.

“By combining a child’s fearless creativity with the technique and knowledge of an adult my art is formed through happy accident and then exploited by my ruthless drive to create objects and imagery that work, adding and subtracting, pushing and pulling until the creative resolution is found. I don’t always know why something works, or why something is ‘good’, I just feel it.

“I once bought pieces to a board game in a flea market in Amsterdam. The pieces were very worn and came in a shabby wooden box, each piece hand-crafted and color coded. The game came without instructions, and the few words on the box were in Dutch. I’m playing with the pieces as I write this, not understanding what I’m doing with the pieces or why, unconcerned by the absence of a clarifying structure, only enjoying the act of play and the limitless possibilities it offers.”

Artist Camilla d’Errico is continuing to celebrate her recent art book publication Helmetgirls (published by Darkhorse Comics) at the Vancouver Fan Expo and the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo in Canada.

“Camilla d’Errico is a powerful voice in pop surrealism, her work combining diverse influences in imagery is both singular and hauntingly familiar. Compelling and deeply personal, Helmetgirls documents Camilla’s art and lifestyle brand that fuses manga, steampunk, and fine art into an original and meaningful aggregate. Gargantuan biomechanical headgear adorns beautiful, wide-eyed, and seemingly fragile girls. More than just decoration, the helmets express each girl’s character, needs, and desires. Look deeply into the Helmetgirls’ eyes—they have a story to tell.”

Don’t miss it, if you can!

Dadara‘s Exchanghibition Bank and Transformoney Tree projects have traveled the world. Next stop: the betahaus in Berlin. After a talk about his projects, the “Transformoney 2.0″ documentary, made in collaboration with director Daniel Nogueira, about Dadara’s Transformoney Tree in the desert will be screened.

The Exchanghibition Bank and bankers will be present to help you to spiritually launder your money. Or inspire you to turn your Money into Art. Even though almost everybody in this world uses money every single day, very few people think about what money is, how it works, and how it might work in a different way. How it could be redefined or even changed.

Isn’t money after all just a tool?

Click here to view the embedded video.

In times when governments don’t want to spend money on art anymore, but spend billions on bailing out banks, Amsterdam artist Dadara started his own bank – the Exchanghibition Bank – which issues banknotes of Zero, Million, and Infinite. The bank has popped up in the main hall of Amsterdam Central Station, The Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Occupy, cultural venues, as well as shopping centers, and also performed at Burning Man in the Nevada desert, where customers could get a Zero note in return for filling out a Spiritual Karma Laundering Contract.

He will talk about his experiences, value(s) of art and money, how the way money works affects our thinking, gift-economy, crowd-funding, and how doing this project has changed himself.

LE SUD in Rotterdam is screening HITLER ein film aus Deutschland by Hans-Jurgen Syberberg. This seven hours long epic will be screened in it’s full length. In Hitler ein Film aus Deutschland director Hans-Jurgen Syberberg examines the rise and fall of the Third Reich. In this 1977 cinematic experience Syberg incorporates puppetry, rear-screen projection and a Wagnerian score into a singular vision, attempting to plunge the viewer into the German psyche. Syberberg, who grew up under Nazi tyranny, ruminates on good and evil and the rest of humanity’s complicity in the horrors of the holocaust.

NO CRISIS FOR CREATIVITY. NO AUSTERITY FOR IMAGINATION. Co-Create. Transform. Art as life, life as art … FROGTOPIA BRUSSELS!

No New Enemies is very pleased to invite you to our next event, a four day workshop and exhibition by the Frog King and Queen. If you missed him at the Venice Biennale in 2011, now is your chance to look, learn and laugh with the Frog King as NoNewEnemies gets back into action with Harlan Levey Projects, the Bloom Hotel and the Hong Kong Economic Trade Office (Brussels) to offer this workshop.

The Frog Fun Workshop with Frog King Kwok Mang Ho and Frog Queen Cho Hyun Jae is a unique opportunity to work and learn with one of the most charismatic and influential artists of our lifetimes.

Participants will assist Frog King and Frog Queen in creating an experimental exhibition that includes: paintings, sculptures, and performance documentation. Following the workshop this exhibition will be open to the public for one month and hosted by the Harlan Levey Projects gallery.

This is your last chance to sign up!
