Opening: June 1 at 19:00 with a dance performance by Ana Teixido.
June 23 4.30 hr Performance Nina Boas
Nina Boas (1980) is a performance artist. Drawings, collages and cutouts often provide the starting point of a performance. In her performances she plays with proportions and female images, alternately regarding them as a little girl, then as a giantess, which can be wordless and silent, or use poetic spoken texts within a ‘mise en scène’.
Françoise Magrangeas (1949-2011) used antique linen tops, nightgowns or dresses, which were prepared before being used, as canvas. She painted frozen silent images. She loved their silence yet sometimes found them too mute and wordless. Thus arose the need to write or even cut through the linen. Sometimes scratchy and carved, the poetic phrases are inscribed, such as “Broder des cÅ“ur en broder des desirs”.
Ana Teixido (1960) received the Silver Dance Prize in 1991 for her role in “Amy and Ana from Ton Lutgerink and since 1986 she works with Meekers Rotterdam dance company as a dancer and choreographer.
This exhibition is part of the Language & Art Gallery Tour program of the 43rd International Poetry Festival Rotterdam.
